CBI’s Medical Publications Forum Insights

Insights from the CBI’s 15th Annual Medical Publications and Communications Forum which is one of the life science industry’s leading events in medical communications with a focus on publications.

Recently, Anju Software sponsored and attended CBI’s 15th Annual Medical Publications and Communications Forum in Philadelphia.  This conference provides a targeted forum for life sciences publications and communications professionals to benchmark with peers and discuss evolving challenges, as well as share innovative solutions and best practices.

Attending the conference, rather than exhibiting, is a rare and welcome experience for me. Being at our booth is a wonderful way to connect with our customers, meet potential new ones, and is an opportunity to talk with others in the field about the benefits of PUBSTRAT. HOWEVER, representing Anju as an attendee provided me with a different perspective on conference events, the time to attend and participate in many of the educational sessions, the anonymity to conduct some competitive intelligence, and the ability to engage with clients, prospects, and industry colleagues on another level entirely.  I truly enjoyed being able to sit with our customers “in session”, discuss relevant industry trends and issues that will impact the way we develop PUBSTRAT, and underscore the personal and professional relationships that are fundamental to success in the field of Medical Affairs and Scientific Communications. They even gave me the mic to speak a couple of times- which I am sure they quickly regretted because I didn’t want to give it back…

One of the many key takeaways from the event was the continued evolution of our industry towards patient inclusion. The shift in focus will impact nearly everything we do within Medical Affairs. From protocol development to lay summaries and results reporting, the patient’s voice and experience will be a central consideration for professionals in Life Sciences. Predicting the necessary adaptations to our software to engage the patient stakeholder is a crucial exercise for the Anju team as we enter a new era of patient-centricity.

In all, it was a great professional learning experience.  I enjoyed getting out from “behind the booth.” I was able to engage, learn, grow, and in the process continued to reinforce Anju’s image as an innovator, industry expert, and trusted partner with our clients, prospects, and end-users.
